Trump Goes to Far For Even His Golf Partners

I don't thing there were any professional tour golfers involved in breaking into and looting the United State Capitol, but I may be wrong.  Professional golfers in the PGA have always been Trump's pals and political supporters.  Throughout his time in office, pro golfers have been Trump's most reliable golfing partners.  It's unusual, as professional golfers are such sticklers for playing the game by the rules, and Trump has been well documented as a complete fraud and cheater on the golf course.  I guess guys like Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and others didn't mind playing with a cheater.  How do they feel about playing with a traitor?

Apparently, all it took for the PGA as an organization to move a bit away from Trump is for him to commit sedition and foment an insurrection that included the violation of the United States Capitol, with the intent to murder the Vice-President and members of Congress.  The courageous PGA is going to punish Trump by removing the prestigious 2022 PGA Championship from Trump's Bedminster golf club, but they don't intend to make a formal announcement until Trump is out of office.

In a blistering column that says the golf world must sever all ties with Trump, Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch said the PGA has been debating for two years the need to move the major championship and, once Trump is out of office, will announce the tournament will be played elsewhere...

The game will instead be portrayed as Trump’s refuge, something he did while ignoring a pandemic that has claimed 365,000 lives, refusing to acknowledge a resounding electoral defeat, and inciting feeble-minded fascists to violence that left five people dead at the opposite end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

That’s the best case scenario.

The alternative? That a sport which prides itself on values like honesty, integrity and devotion to the rules will be characterized as a welcoming sanctuary for a brazen and amoral insurrectionist, a world in which a racist con man was never discomfited, even while taking a wrecking ball to the constitution and the rule of law.
