Let's Keep Opening Up Florida

The Trump gang has moved on from the whole coronavirus thing.  Despite the mounting evidence that the haphazard reopening of many Republican states is leading to a surge in new Covid-19 cases, Team Trump has a simple message:

Now if you live in Florida or are planning a trip there this summer, you might want to look at the graph below.   It shows that despite a consistent number of daily Covid-19 tests, the number of daily positive test results has gone from one thousand to nearly four thousand per day in less than two weeks.   The percentage of positive tests per day has increase by nearly 400% in less than two weeks.   Maybe someone should panic.

If you have a stable epidemic and you increase testing, you should find additional cases. But the percentage of positive tests should either stay stable or possibly go down. If the case numbers are going up and the percentage of positive tests are going up that looks more like you’re chasing a growing epidemic and it’s growing faster than your testing capacity.
