Mann Gulch 5:44*

The New York Times has release a long email string from an informal group of medical and public health experts (Red Dawn Rising) discussing the Covid-19 crisis from the end of January through mid-March.  It is clear from these emails how badly the Trump Administration failed the American people.


*  Mann Gulch isn't a medical term.  It relates to the tragic loss of 13 fire fighters in Montana in 1949.  At 5:45 a portion of the massive forest fire they were battling blew up and within 11 minutes expanded by 3,000 acres trapping the fire crew before they could find a safe escape route.  Early on in the email string noted above Mann Gulch 5:44 is reference as the point at which it might be possible to achieve a different result in the battle with Covid-19.  Political failure in the US let our country move on to 5:46 without a safe escape.
