Trumpist DeSantis Hides Covid-19 Status of Elder-care Facilities

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had no problem with thousands of spring breakers descending on his state as the coronavirus pandemic was gaining a foothold in the US.  He was reluctant to implement a statewide shelter in place order, but finally under intense pressure grudgingly put it in place.  He is following his political idol, Donald Trump, in pretending that the whole thing will go away if you ignore it.  Of course, ignoring Covid-19 is tough as the body count rises.  So, he's trying to hide it as much as possible.  In particular he working to not let anyone know if their aged parents are stuck in an elder-care facility filled with Covid-19 infected residents and staff.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ general counsel called a representative of the Miami Herald’s law firm seeking to quash a public records lawsuit that would force the state to divulge the names of all elder-care facilities that have had a positive test for the coronavirus.
The back-door pressure — through an attorney that had no involvement in the case — paid off.
