He had nothing to do with the stimulus check - Congress did that. And, US taxpayers will be paying off the debt from those checks for a long time. Not that it was the wrong thing to do, but it isn't Trump's money. And, considering we don't even know if he pays income tax, he's less likely to be paying down ay of the additional debt.
